Description
The choice of fixtures, the type of clamping, and the clamping force are key criteria for minimizing adverse effects that lead to a deterioration in the geometric characteristics of the machined surfaces. This article examines the accuracy of cylindrical and conical surfaces under different clamping schemes—in a chuck (three-jaw self-centering) and between a chuck and a center.
The accuracy of the machined surfaces has been analyzed and evaluated using statistical methods, with a comparative analysis performed between the mathematical expected value and the variance for the two clamping schemes.
