Description

The modern military education system is constantly faced with challenges provoked by the dynamics and diversity of modern threats, their speed of development and the scale of their consequences. Military leaders strive to respond to innovations by implementing technologies in various weapons systems, as well as by updating the content in the training of military personnel and experts in security and defense.
The Armed forces of NATO and EU member states have more and more commitments arising from current conflicts in different parts of the world, which requires the application of flexible models in the training of female and male military personnel and the development of capabilities such as: critical thinking and analysis, developed skills for working in a gender-mixed environment, mastery of strategic communication processes, etc.
Military academies in Europe are looking for ways to harmonize military education and training of future officers in order to increase interoperability between the armies of EU member states. The rich history of the "European Initiative for the Exchange of Young Officers, inspired by Erasmus+" is proof of successful initiatives, as it offers attractive international training courses, ensuring a high level of training for the cadets involved and contributing to the building of capabilities of modern Armed Forces. One of the modules offers training on the understanding and implementation of equality policies in the military environment, the management of gender perspectives in international missions and operations, as well as training in the prevention of sexual violence and harassment.
This report includes an analysis of the training content and the results of the feedback from the trainees in the last two editions of the Common Module, organized by the military academies of Italy and Greece. It will also present guidelines for improving the training of officers for the effective management of military formations, taking into account the needs of both genders and developing their talents.
